Long term thinking for East Africa

ActionAid Australia is taking the unusual step of telling supporters we would rather they joined our Last Famine campaign calling for long term support for farmers in East Africa than give us money for our emergency appeal alone.
ActionAid sees the bigger picture and is doing the right thing by trying to alleviate hunger and poverty in the long term. As they have stated ".... hunger is not caused by a lack of food - the world produces enough food to feed everyone at least twice over. The problem, instead, is that not everyone has access to that food - and the majority of those going hungry are actually farmers themselves...."
