I recently read an article that was discussing different types of soils. One very crucial thing that i learned was that soils are formed based on the climate of a specific region. These 'soil forming factors' range from influence of climate, the material they occur on, including human activity and the topography of the terrain, and time.
So this brings us to Buffett's comment while at the World Food Symposium in Iowa. He indicates that the world needs to focus on what works on African farms rather than enforce what works on the America or other countries farms, which i think is a great idea. The new approach includes teaching farmers the proper way of planting, implementing biological-based, sustainable soil management plan, education and training, and serious, long-term commitment from government.
Technology (especially if no knowledgeable on how to efficiently use it), fertilizer and genetically modified seeds will not reduce hunger.
